A Home Run at AT&T Park! Discovery Day 2016

Everyone loves a good game of baseball – the fans cheering from the crowds, the smell of popcorn, fluffs of cotton candy bobbing through the promenade, and smiles from kids and adults alike. Although AT&T Park is known as the home of the San Francisco Giants, it was home to UCSF’s Discovery Day on Saturday, November 5th!

UCSF ended its sixth annual Bay Area Science Festival at AT&T Park with a roar, opening the stadium open to the public for free to experience Science and Engineering at its best and most fun. Over 30,000 attendees joined us at the park on November 5th, participating in some wonderful and fun hands-on activities by the exhibitors. Engineers, Scientists, Mathematicians, Educators and Technologists alike came to strut their stuff on and off the field. Our WESTPAK crew was happy to be a part of Discovery Day on this chilly, but sunny Saturday morning on the Bay.

This event was our second Corporate Event, demonstrating some of the tried and true testing that we do at WESTPAK every day like shock, burst and vibration! Our team enjoyed sharing our knowledge with young kids all the way up to STEM professionals. It was great to see the smiles and surprised faces when we blew up bags, dropped cell phones from heights, and blasted bass music to demonstrate engineering in action, visible and audible in every day life.

WESTPAK is proud to be involved in the continued promotion of science and engineering in the Bay Area. Bay Area Science puts on great events around throughout the calendar year and has something for all ages. Check out their calendar for more details on events near you! There are events about the constellations, the ocean, the body, and so much more! We can’t wait to participate in another grand event, whether that be in rain or shine, on or off the field, or in the lab!
