ASTM D7386-25 Was Updated – Here’s What Changed

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) recently released ASTM D7386-25. The latest update to ASTM D7386 includes minor refinements aimed at improving clarity and consistency.

ASTM D7368-25 Explained

Here’s a summary of the changes and how they may impact your business:

  1. Added a Reference to ASTM D5276: ASTM D5276, which covers the drop test of loaded containers, is now formally referenced in ASTM D7386. This addition ensures alignment with standardized drop testing procedures.
  2. Guidance for Testing Multiple Specimens in a Mailer Bag: A new note has been added to clarify how multiple specimens should be handled during testing. The note states: “(5) Additional test specimens, up to three, may be placed inside the unitizing bag. Remove packages that are similar in size and replace them with test specimens.” This clarification helps maintain consistency when testing multiple units within a single mailer bag.
  3. Clarified Labeling for Unitizing Bag: Section 5.4.1.1 has been updated to provide clearer guidance on how to label bags for unitized loads.

How Do These ASTM D7386 Updates Affect You?

These ASTM D7386 changes ensure better alignment with ASTM D5276 and provide clearer guidelines for multi-specimen testing and labeling when conducting TS-1 testing. While the modifications are minor, they reinforce best practices for package testing.
