Westpak San Jose recently acquired capstan style grips for tensile testing strapping, webbing, metal ribbon and other samples in our 50kN (11,000 lb.) load frame. The grips have a diameter of 40mm (1.6in.) and width of 80mm (3.1in.).
These grips allow us to better test materials that are weakened by fixturing in traditional wedge-style grips, and are ideal for testing lifting straps, seat belts and other similar materials. The grips are compliant with the ASTM D3950 test standard amongst many others!
